The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) has proudly supported the Veolia World Solar Challenge since 1999 and is proud to support the Adelaide GreenZone Drive, as part of the 2011 Event. The SATC has long been recognised for pioneering green tourism initiatives, participating in a world-first pilot program, Ecotourism Australia’s ‘Climate Change Certification Program’ in 2008, recognising tourism operators for taking action in response to climate change. In 2005 the SATC was instrumental in developing the sustainable tourism category at the South Australian Tourism Awards, leading ultimately to a similar category nationally. More recently the SATC has supported the establishment of WOMAD Earth Station, a new and unique festival of music and ideas exploring our relationship with the planet. The inaugural event is being held October 21 – 23 at the Belair National Park. |
Representing the interests of nearly 600,000 members, RAA has a responsibility to be at the forefront of emerging motoring technologies to provide advice and guidance to our members. Through our involvement in GreenZone Drive (GZD) we are pleased to provide motorists with the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a low emission vehicle (LEV) and experience the technology first-hand. As a signatory to the South Australian Government’s Climate Change Voluntary Sector Agreement, RAA is also committed to educating and assisting motorists to reduce their carbon footprint. With more motorists seeking greener transport and vehicle options, GZD provides an important opportunity to dispel uncertainty about the emergence of these environmentally friendly vehicle options. |
