RACV is committed to ensure it is environmentally responsible in the conduct of its business, both through its Corporate Plan objectives and National Climate Change Policy Statement it has signed with all other Australian motoring clubs. In addition, RACV advocates on behalf of its members and provides advice through a number of key initiatives designed to assist members reduce their environmental footprint. RACV aims to provide an influential, effective and collective voice on behalf of its members. A full 97% of RACV members are concerned about the environment with the same percentage supporting an expanding presence from RACV in the environmental arena especially in areas relating to reducing emissions, alternative fuels and sustainable modes of transport, improved traffic flow and other transport-related environmental issues. |
The Global Fuel Economy Initiative is a partnership of the FIA Foundation, International Energy Agency, International Transport Forum and the U.N. Environment Programme. The Initiative exists to promote debate and discussion around the issue of fuel economy. The GFEI believes huge gains could be made in fuel economy, gains which could help every country to address the pressing issues of climate change, energy security and sustainable mobility. In the longer term it wants to see real improvements in the fuel economy capacity of the global car fleet. |
Greenwheels is an online guide enabling consumers to assess greenhouse emissions of all new passenger cars sold in Australia. This joint initiative of Future Climate Australia, RACV and EPA Victoria, Greenwheels ranks vehicles by their greenhouse gas emissions and provides information about technologies and fuels and how these impact on climate change. It provides a guide to the best performing cars in particular classes, such as small, medium, large, off-road, ute or light truck.
